COMY Receives AEPW Funding: Leading the New Future of Plastic Circular Economy with Technological Innovation

Jun 13,2025

To eliminate plastic waste and build a world free of it, the Alliance to End Plastic Waste (AEPW) and Zhejiang COMY Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. (COMY Environment) collaborated on the "Economics of Chemical Recycling for Plastic Pollution System Management Project." This project aims to explore the economic differences between plastic waste sources, promote a circular economy for plastics, and ultimately achieve sustainable development.

This project, which ran from January to May 2025, analyzed the quality and economics of the finished product for four readily available commercial waste plastics (primarily films). The goal was to identify stable raw material sources with high economic viability and suitable for large-scale production, providing a basis for decision-making in subsequent industrial applications.

The report concludes:

The experimental results demonstrate that COMY's chemical recycling technology can convert these raw materials into liquid products with high yields: the dry oil yields for the four raw materials were 80% for Raw Material A, 73% for Raw Material B, 75% for Raw Material C, and 70% for Raw Material D.

The oil products produced from raw materials A and B are of higher quality, meeting the feedstock requirements of most petrochemical companies and offering excellent economic efficiency.

After sorting, cleaning, and processing, raw materials C and D can meet the raw material needs of downstream petrochemical companies, offering significant potential in addressing the sustainable development needs of both downstream petrochemical companies and end-user brand companies.

Chemical recycling has the potential to become a new path to addressing plastic pollution and promoting the development of a circular economy.

From an industrial development perspective, it is recommended that Class A raw materials be prioritized in the initial stages of the project, while other types of plastic waste requiring pre-treatment can meet the needs of large-scale expansion in the later stages of the project.

This collaboration not only demonstrates the technological strength of COMY Environment but also marks a milestone in the participation of Chinese technology in global environmental governance. COMY Environment will use this collaboration as a new starting point to continuously increase investment in technological innovation, collaborate with industry chain partners to expand application scenarios, contribute more "Chinese solutions" to global plastic pollution control, and lead the industry towards a green future free of plastic waste.

The Alliance to End Plastic Waste is an independent, global nonprofit organization working to end plastic waste and create circular systems that extend the lifespan of materials and products as long as possible. The Alliance is committed not only to connecting existing solutions but also to building unique and impactful circular solutions. The Alliance brings together businesses across the plastics value chain, governments, local communities, civil society groups, intergovernmental organizations, academia, and civil society. This network's expertise, experience, and resources enable us to help end plastic waste and pollution. We look forward to collaborating to find solutions that are economically viable, environmentally sound, and socially responsible.
